RFU received $45 million out of 100 from FIFA for the 2018 World Cup, there is no deadline for the frozen amount

The Russian Football Union (RFU) has already received $45 million out of $100 million from the International Football Federation (FIFA) under the FIFA Legacy World Cup legacy program, the urges RFU Development Director Maxim Mitrofanov.

The World Cup was held in Russia in 2018 and was recognized by FIFA as the best in history. In April, Mitrofanov said the RFU had received 30% of the total $100 million.

— Maxim Lvovich, tell us about the payment situation under the FIFA Legacy program?

– As part of the FIFA Legacy program, we already have 45% of the amount in our accounts. We are in close collaboration with our colleagues at FIFA so that there is further development in terms of payments. So far, the remaining amount, say, is unofficially frozen, but FIFA representatives say that the Legacy program is standard, linked to the World Cup, and they do not refuse it. Our World Cup was the best and we hope that all commitments will be kept.

– Are these payments received of $45 million out of 100?

– Yes. We can manage them. FIFA Legacy partly funds the Youth Football League, the Football to Schools project. All projects are coordinated with FIFA.

– What is the deadline for FIFA payments?
