Both boxers exceeded the planned limit of 79.3 kg
Former World Light Heavyweight Champion Alexander Gvozdyk and his Mexican rival Josué Obando went through the pre-fight weigh-in.
The Ukrainian turned out to be 3 kilograms lighter than his opponent. Gvozdik showed 83.867 kg on the scales, Obando – 86.862 kg. Note that the fight is scheduled as part of the light heavyweight division with a limit of 79.3 kg. Presumably, the boxers have agreed on a catch weight for this fight.
Gvozdyk will fight his first fight since returning to boxing on February 11 in Pomona (California, USA). The Ukrainian initially planned to fight the Argentinean Jorge Miranda, but later Obando became his opponent.
In 2018, Gvozdyk became the world champion by defeating Adonis Stevenson. After that, Alexander had one successful title defense. The Ukrainian fought his last fight in the fall of 2019, losing to Artur Beterbiev. In 2020, Alexander ended his career, but last year he decided to return.
