Honorary President of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Vyacheslav Koloskov told RT that when choosing a stadium to host a Russian Super Cup match, the main selection criteria are initially determined, after which the organization reviews the applications.
– First of all, you must calculate the number of spectators expected in the stands. If 15,000 is one stadium, if 40,000 is the second, and if 70,000, as in the Russian Cup final, then we have only two such arenas in Russia: in Moscow and St. Petersburg . This is the fundamental factor. It should be calculated in such a way that later there are no offended fans who for one reason or another will not be able to come to the game. The rest of the moments fade into the background.
In the cities proposed to host the Super Cup, people have tremendous experience in organizing and hosting matches, even at World Cup level. So, from a logistics and security point of view, everything has been arranged everywhere. The second question is the cost of renting the stadium. The third point concerns sponsors and TV rights. I don’t know the details, but it’s one thing to hold a meeting in Samara, and another in Luzhniki or St. Petersburg, Koloskov said.
The Russian Super Cup match between champion RPL Zenit and Russian Cup winner Spartak is scheduled for July 9.
