At the request of the prosecutor’s office, Pavelko and Zapisotsky may be removed from their positions in the UAF for two months

UAF is ready to challenge these decisions in court

Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) stated that the prosecutor’s office filed a lawsuit motion for suspension from office for two months organization president Andrey Pavelko and Secretary General Yuri Zapisotsky.

“Another unlawful interference of law enforcement agencies in the activities of the UAF. Today, the prosecutor’s office filed a petition with the court to remove the UAF president and general secretary from office for two months. Such a request is not only unreasonable, but is a direct interference in the activities of the public union in the understanding of the rules established in the FIFA and UEFA statutes.”

“FIFA and UEFA, which have already been informed of another violation, previously stated in a joint letter about the risks of state interference, including law enforcement agencies, in the activities of the UAF. According to the letter, new interventions in the affairs of the Association will lead to the suspension of the UAF membership in these international associations, and in the future to expulsion from FIFA and UEFA.”

“The UAF will challenge all illegal decisions, both in Ukrainian courts and in international instances, in particular, in the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), where claims from the UAF leadership have already been directed.”

Recall that the Kyiv Pechersk Court appointed Pavelko a preventive measure in the form of arrest for two months, until January 22, 2023. However, Pavelko had the opportunity to make a bail, which was used by the UAF, paying about 10 million hryvnias.

Pavelko, together with the General Secretary of the Association, Yuri Zapisotsky, is a defendant in a criminal case and received suspicions in a corruption case. The Moscow Court imposed a similar measure of restraint on Zapisotsky.

The UAF considers the entire process to be commissioned work from the former leaders of the association. At the same time, on October 18, a search took place in the house of the UAF president. Pavelko denied conducting searches in his own house, but stressed that behind-the-scenes games “with a Russian trace” were being waged, the purpose of which was to remove the current leadership of the Association.

In 2018, the Schemes program conducted an investigation, as a result of which journalists suspected the UAF and its president Andriy Pavelko of corruption through a factory for the production of artificial fields.
