FIFA has announced a list of 26 players
FIFA announced the list of contenders for symbolic team of 2022.
Among the candidates are the winner of the Golden Ball 2022, Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, as well as the best player in the 2022 World Cup, PSG striker Lionel Messi. Also on the list is Portuguese striker Al-Nasr Cristiano Ronaldo.
In total, there are 26 applicants on the list:
GoalkeepersCast: Alisson Becker (Liverpool, Brazil), Thibault Courtois (Real Madrid, Belgium), Emiliano Martinez (Aston Villa, Argentina).
DefendersCast: Joao Cancelo (Manchester City/Bayern, Portugal), Alphonso Davies (Bayern, Canada), Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool, Netherlands), Yoshko Guardiol (RB Leipzig, Croatia), Ashraf Hakimi (PSG, Morocco), Theo Hernandez (Milan) , France), Antonio Rüdiger (Chelsea/Real, Germany), Thiago Silva (Chelsea, Brazil).
MidfieldersCast: Jude Bellingham (Borussia Dortmund, England), Casemiro (Real/Manchester United, Brazil), Kevin de Bruyne (Manchester City, Belgium), Enzo Fernandez (River Plate/Benfica/Chelsea, Argentina), Gavi (Barcelona, Spain) Luka Modric (Real, Croatia), Pedri (Barcelona, Spain), Federico Valverde (Real, Uruguay).
forwardsCast: Karim Benzema (Real Madrid, France), Erling Haaland (Borussia Dortmund/Manchester City, Norway), Robert Lewandowski (Bayern/Barcelona, Poland), Kylian Mbappe (PSG, France), Lionel Messi (PSG, Argentina), Neymar (PSG) , Brazil), Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United/Al-Nasr, Portugal).
One goalkeeper, three defenders, three midfielders and three forwards will be selected from the list. Eleventh place will go to the field player who received the most votes but did not enter the previous slots. The symbolic team will be announced at a ceremony in Paris on February 27.
