Athletistic/ Football. The news of a mass brawl between Russian and Ukrainian footballers in one of the Turkish hotels came like a thunderclap. Each side has its own version of the conflict.
“FC Shinnik statement regarding the incident at a hotel in Turkey.
On the evening of February 13, on the territory of the hotel “Siginus”, located in the city of Belek (Turkey), where our team lives, an incident occurred with the players of the Ukrainian team “Minay” .
In this regard, the football club “Shinnik” officially declares that it is not the initiator of this conflict. Our players acted like a real team, defending their teammate, who was attacked. According to the results of a medical examination, no serious injuries were found among the players of “Shinnik”. At the moment our team is safe and the club has decided to move to another hotel in order to avoid further conflicts.
Please note that the reservation of this hotel took place in November 2022, subject to the conditions of safe stay of our team. We consider unacceptable and condemn any form of violence and will defend not only the interests of the club, but also the interests of our country. Law enforcement is investigating the situation,” the Shinnik press service wrote on the club’s website.
“I spoke with the hotel manager. I said to him: ‘It’s your mistake, how could you arrange the Russians with us? They assured us that this would not happen, and now they say that this hotel hosted a Russian team without the knowledge of the organizers. The Russians arrived on the 12th.
We discovered this when we came for lunch, walked past the tables and saw the “Shinnik” emblem on one of them. We are in the administration, to demand that they be evicted, and they have simply been relocated to another area.
He [русский игрок] asked him [работницу отеля] contact him in Russian. Our player, who was there, turned to the Russian: “Get out, we’ll explain to you in Russian.” He came out and called more players. There was no fighting in the lobby or in the elevator. They had everything on the ground. When the elevator was closing, they started shouting, “Come up to us, we’ll show you now”, shouts of “Glory to Russia” started to be heard from there. We couldn’t settle for that.
The team-to-team fight has already begun on the ground where the Russians were. As a result, none of Minai’s residents were injured,” said Alexander Kostyuk, Minai’s press officer.

According to the staff of the Royal Seginus, where the players of the “Shinnik” from Yaroslavl and the “Minay” from Transcarpathia stopped, the athletes of both teams were very drunk. The athletes drank separately from each other, preferring whiskey to cola (staff estimates about five bottles were drunk in total).
One of the conflicts started in the lobby. According to the “customer relations” service, which solves various types of problems, one of the Russian footballers, “a very tall guy”, went to the women’s toilet. A moment later, a woman’s scream was heard from there. Members of the Ukrainian team intervened in the situation – a conflict broke out, the Russian football player called his friends, and the quarrel turned into a fight. Then the players moved to the third floor, where most of the conflict took place.
The employees tried to calm down the angry players, but it didn’t work out very well – the police had to be called. As a result, on the morning of February 14, both teams were expelled from the Royal Seginus.
The media wrote that striker “Shinnik” Ilya Gruznov suspected a broken rib. Moreover, midfielder Dmitry Samoilov is suspected of having a broken finger. Today the players will undergo a medical examination. Information about the dispute and the condition of the players was reported by Shinnik’s press officer Igor Merezhin, who, by the way, denied the reports about the fractures.
Russian and Ukrainian footballers fought in Turkey
“By the way, they always fight in training camp. It’s exhausting. Sometimes players from the same team fight each other directly on the pitch. In this case, it was an additional catalyst, although You were telling me if it was necessary? It wasn’t necessary. But it was. And though I’m desperately sad that it’s all like this now, sad to the point of ora, to the point of melancholy, hopeless – now you can only choose a hotel more carefully Or stay at home, which in essence is one and the same thing.
I’ll add one in parentheses. This is the usual rule, it is universal. As far as you can tell, it all started with a conflict in the elevator, where several Minai players and a Shinnik player were traveling.
When five of us (three, two, seven) start beating one… I’ll always treat it the same. Always. I think you can guess how,” sports journalist Vasily Utkin wrote on social media.
