Iran to play test match with Russia in March

The game will be held in Tehran

Iran will play a test match with Russia.

The fight in March was confirmed by the head of the Iranian Football Federation, Mehdi Taj. The meeting will take place in Tehran.

In addition to sparring with the Russian Federation, the Iranian team will play a friendly match with Iraq. Both confrontations are scheduled for the period from 20 to 28 March.

In February last year, FIFA and UEFA did not allow all Russian teams and clubs to participate in competitions under the auspices of organizations. The reason is the full-scale invasion of Russian troops into the territory of Ukraine.

Russia played its last match on November 14, 2021, losing to Croatia (0:1) in the group round match for the 2022 World Cup.

At the same time, UEFA plans to extend the suspension of Russian teams from international competitions. Russia also lost the right to host the UEFA Super Cup 2023. According to UAF President Andrei Pavelko, UEFA will begin to consider the issue of returning Russian football to the European arena after the end of hostilities.

Early on the morning of February 24, Russia launched rocket and air strikes on most Ukrainian cities and then launched a full-scale military invasion. The war against Russia has been going on for 357 days.
