The President of the UAF may be removed from office for two months
UAF made an official statement to the President of the Association – Andrey Pavelko.
Earlier, the prosecutor’s office filed a petition with the court to remove President Pavelko and General Secretary Yuri Zapisotsky from office for two months. The UAF emphasized that the main goal of these statements is to deprive Ukraine of a place in the UEFA Executive Committee.
In addition, the Association believes that Pavelko is the main opponent of the Russian Federation in the international arena. The full UAF statement can be read Here.
“According to the norms of the UEFA, FIFA and UAF Statutes, interference in the activities of national football associations by local judicial authorities is prohibited. However, it is not the first time that the infamous Pechersky District Court of Kiev has been used precisely for gross interference in the work of the Ukrainian Football Association and pressure on its representatives.”
“The attempt to illegally remove the leadership of the UAF due to the decision of the Pechersk Court right now and for two months is pursuing very specific goals. The main one is to deprive Ukraine of a seat in the UEFA Executive Committee, which, obviously, may be of interest to the 404 country or collaborators within our state.”
“After all, these two months are a key period in Ukraine’s struggle to continue being represented in the governing body of UEFA.”
“At the same time, the Russians directly and publicly admit that they see UAF President Andrei Pavelko as their key opponent, who manages to block any steps in international football structures aimed at mitigating the anti-Russian sanctions policy.”
Recall that the Kiev Pechersk Court appointed Pavelko a preventive measure in the form of arrest for two months, until January 22, 2023. However, Pavelko had the opportunity to make a bail, which was used by the UAF, paying about 10 million hryvnias.
Pavelko, together with the General Secretary of the Association, Yuri Zapisotsky, is a defendant in a criminal case and received suspicions in a corruption case. The Moscow Court imposed a similar measure of restraint on Zapisotsky.
The UAF considers the entire process to be commissioned work from the former leaders of the association. At the same time, on October 18, a search took place in the house of the UAF president. Pavelko denied conducting searches in his own house, but stressed that behind-the-scenes games “with a Russian trace” were being waged, the purpose of which was to remove the current leadership of the Association.
In 2018, the Schemes program conducted an investigation, as a result of which journalists suspected the UAF and its president Andriy Pavelko of corruption through a factory for the production of artificial fields.
