In a week, our country can bypass the Czech Republic
The first matches of the playoff round of the Europa League and the Conference League brought Ukraine 0.4 points in the UEFA rating. They were earned for our country by Shakhtar, who defeated Rennes in a nominally home match (the two points earned by the Pitmen for the victory are divided by five clubs that started from Ukraine in European competitions). Dnepr-1, who lost away to Rennes, did not earn any points.
As a result, Ukraine finished the first game week of the 2023 European Cup year in 16th place in the UEFA coefficients table. At the same time, it should be noted, it was possible to close the gap with the Czech Republic, whose clubs stopped playing in Europe, and with Norway, whose representative – Boude-Glimt – scored only one point, having drawn with Lech.
In total, Ukraine has 5.1 points this season. Ukraine received 0.8 points for getting Shakhtar into the Champions League group stage (4 bonus points divided by the same five clubs), 0.2 points for Dnipro leaving the Conference League group. Shakhtar brought Ukraine 1.4 points – wins against Leipzig and Rennes, two draws with Celtic, a world match with Real Madrid. Dynamo has 4.5 points or 0.9 points in eight games played (three wins and two draws). Dnipro earned 7 points or 1.4 points for Ukraine – three wins and a draw. Zarya and Vorskla brought 0.2 points each.
Ukraine will be able to enter the TOP-15 of the rating next week. To do this, Dnipro-1 and Shakhtar need to score at least one point in the return matches of the playoff round – this will be enough to overtake the Czech Republic. Of course, you can also aim to overtake Norway, but there are already too many options. We’ll see how it goes.
