The head coach of Dnipro-1 spoke about the reasons for his team’s defeat in the 1/16 match of the Conference League.

For a positive result in the game with AEK Dnepr-1 there is not enough physical condition. This is what the head coach of the team, Alexander Kucher, said.

In addition, the specialist noted the lack of cooperation of the newcomers from Dnipro, who did not understand their partners very well in the first game of the 1/16 finals of the Conference League.

“We understand that the opponent will press us, they will open up, run forward, and we will create space and attack by controlling the ball. As for the substitutions, they are not chaotic. Why do you think they are like that? It is normal replacements.

It was necessary to step up the game when we were losing – we prioritized the aggressive Kogut and Nazarenko. In my opinion, they are equal replacements, because Dovbik got an injury, and Pikhalyonok was running at the end of the match, so it was necessary to replace him and bring fresh forces into the game.

I can’t say that Peglow and Heiner didn’t play well. Of course, these are newcomers who have not been with us for a very long time, and they are still adapting to the team and our game. They will need to understand our principles. I think it will be better.

I will not say that the level of Ukrainian teams has fallen. Now we meet them, when the opponent is, as they say in the season, has an unbeaten streak and, in general, looks very good. We haven’t played official matches for a long time, so it’s quite difficult to play the first match against such an opponent,” said Kucher of Dnipro-1’s official website.

Recall that Dnipro-1 narrowly lost to AEK in the first match of the 1/16 finals of the Conference League. The return game will take place one week later, on February 23, in Kosice, Slovakia.
