Mikhailichenko: Lawsuits against UAF leadership are some kind of politics

Member of the Executive Committee of the UAF supported the leaders of the Association

Member of the Executive Committee of the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) Alexey Mikhailichenko commented on the lawsuits against the president of the UAF Andrey Pavelko and Secretary General Yuri Zapisotsky.

“Strange, as far as I understand, cases are being raised that were closed three or four years ago. And again, some problems begin at a time when football unites, when it returns to Ukraine, when we are the first to fight on our fronts with Russian teams.”

“It is not clear to me why this is being done. Perhaps this is also some kind of policy. Don’t know. It is hard for me to understand this, because I am a football person and have never been in any parties, for any money. I do not like it. And I don’t understand it.”

“When they have to unite and do everything against the enemy, then to do some kind of showdown here is very incomprehensible to me. Whatever happens around, we just do our job. Despite all this, we are already preparing to hold the next championship, and to put this championship in order.”

In November, Mikhailichenko supported Pavelko during the imposition of a measure of restraint on the president of the UAF. Together with the ex-coach of Dynamo, Oleg Blokhin, Igor Belanov and Anatoly Demyanenko came to court.

Earlier it was reported that the Pechersk Court of Kiev suspended Pavelko and Zapisotsky from their positions until March 17, 2023. The head of the Association filed an appeal on the same day. If it is not accepted, the court decision comes into force on February 22.

The UAF supported Pavelko. The organization believes that the situation around Pavelko leads to the only goal – to deprive Ukraine of a place in the UEFA Executive Committee, where the head of the UAF should be re-elected. In addition, the Association believes that Pavelko is the main opponent of the Russian Federation in the international arena.

Pavelko, together with Zapisotsky, is a defendant in a criminal case and received suspicions in a corruption case. The Moscow Court imposed a similar measure of restraint on Zapisotsky.

The UAF considers the entire process to be commissioned work from the former leaders of the association. At the same time, on October 18, a search was carried out in the house of the president of the organization. Pavelko denied conducting searches in his own house, but stressed that behind-the-scenes games “with a Russian trace” were being waged, the purpose of which was to remove the current leadership of the Association.

In 2018, the Schemes program conducted an investigation, as a result of which journalists suspected the UAF and its president Andriy Pavelko of corruption through a factory for the production of artificial fields.
