Qatari investors and British billionaire Ratcliffe have filed formal bids to buy the club
Qatari investors led by the former prime minister of the country Jaber Al Thani ready to pay a record amount for Manchester United.
Al Thani on Friday evening filed a formal offer to buy the English club. Earlier in the day, British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe filed his application.
Al Thani’s initial offer was reported to be £5 billion. The final amount will be determined when potential buyers review the MOJ accounts in detail.
Recall that the board of directors of Manchester United announced the sale of the club in whole or in part through large external investments. Manchester United owners American businessmen Glazers expect to finalize the deal in the first quarter of 2023. Estimated sale amount is 6-7 billion pounds.
The current record for the sale of a sports club is around £3.75 billion paid out for the Denver Broncos NFL team. The Glazer family is expected to balk at the sale unless they can reach a good deal.
Manchester United are 3rd in the Premier League. Eric Ten Hag’s team will play Leicester City on February 19 in the next round.
