The 31-year-old striker in his career had defended the shirts of Chelsea, Porto and Newcastle among other teams. He had also been part of his country’s team with an appearance in 60 games and scoring ten goals.
In turn, club manager Fatih Ilek pointed out that Atsu planned to leave the club and bought a plane ticket to France on the day of the earthquake. However, the striker had a change of heart after scoring a goal in the last minute of the game against Kasimpasa, so he ended up canceling the trip.
“He had a plane ticket, but he gave up because he played well and scored. It was hit by an earthquake on its finest day Ilek commented.
