Medvedenko: Are ours quietly merging, or are there other reasons why other countries are defending Ukraine in the international arena?

The famous Ukrainian ex-basketball player does not understand why the FBU does not put pressure on FIBA

Two-time NBA champion Stanislav Medvedenko outraged by the position of the Basketball Federation of Ukrainewhich did not join the letter of 9 basketball federations to FIBA, demanding not to return Russians and Belarusians to international competitions.

“I don’t understand why I am ashamed of our basketball, and not the FBU – the Basketball Federation of Ukraine?”

“I talked with my colleagues from European federations and they showed me such a letter to FIBA (this is the second letter due to the fact that there was no reaction to the previous one). The statement is quite tough and unprecedented, which has already united 9 federations, to which I am infinitely grateful. But where is Ukraine here?

“What was FIBA’s reaction to Ukraine’s statement a month ago? I don’t see public communication. I ask my colleagues: where is our federation? Answer: yours, as always, are “silent in English.”

“Someone explain – it’s ours that are quietly merging, are there other reasons that other countries more systematically defend Ukraine in the international arena? I want to hear official comments from people who are on the board of the federation, Sergei Lishchuk, Valery Kondratiev, Yaroslav Zubritsky.”

Medvedenko also published a photo of the statement. The basketball federations of Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland and Sweden have announced the need to continue the ban for athletes from the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus at competitions under the auspices of FIBA. Otherwise, the federations are ready to leave the commissions and structures of FIBA.

The IOC is ready to consider the possibility of admitting athletes from Russia and Belarus to international competitions. In this case, everyone who wishes will be required to act in a neutral status. Also, athletes should not support the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and pass a mandatory doping test.

The IOC believes that a complete ban on the performance of Russian and Belarusian athletes is discrimination and is contrary to the Olympic Charter.

Recall that Medvedenko received new championship rings from the Los Angeles Lakers. The Ukrainian in the summer of 2022 sold his championship awards at an auction for $253,534. The famous basketball player transferred all the money to the struggle of Ukraine against Russian aggression.
