Nine-time champion of Spain in the “real Madrid » Amancio died at the age of 83, according to the Madrid team’s press service.
The causes of the death of the 1964 European champion in the Spanish national team have not been communicated.
“Amancio will be remembered by all Real Madrid and football fans as one of the sport’s greatest players,” the statement read.
Amancio played 344 games for Real Madrid in the Spanish national league. As part of the Madrid team, Amancio became the country’s champion nine times, won the European Cup and also became a three-time Spanish Cup winner.
Since October 2022, Amancio has been Honorary President of Real Madrid.
