Dyukov denied information about an agreement with Khachaturyants regarding the introduction of a moratorium on leaving the RPL

President of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Alexander Diukov during his approach to the press, he explained how the federation was coping with the existing difficulties and restrictions, and also noted that he had no agreement on the introduction of a relegation moratorium in the RPL.

– Speech by the FIFA representative at the conference? We are in constant contact, the theses he expressed have already been discussed among us, Dyukov told reporters. – It’s good that he expressed them publicly.

The exact date of the CAS review of club suspensions in European competition is not known. Representatives of FIFA and UEFA have requested time to prepare an additional position. Before the 30th, the work should be completed, after which we will wait for the date of the meeting. We have consulted, given legal support to the clubs, but the RFU is not a subject in this case.

Information on the postponement of the season due to Fan ID? I have already answered this question about the stadium in Nizhny Novgorod, I have no additional information, this project is implemented by the government, the Ministry of Digital Development and the Ministry of Sports. On our side, we have made proposals for a more practical reception and a more transparent procedure. This was done in February, so far we have not received a response.

Is it true that you had an agreement with Ashot Khachaturyants in March, that a relegation moratorium will be introduced in the RPL?

– I don’t know anything about the agreements, the executive committee meeting was held on March 22, during which the proposal for a moratorium on the relegation and promotion of the FNL was discussed. The Executive Committee did not agree with this proposal, but a working group was nevertheless created. These are all agreements that have been. A promise from me? How do you imagine that? On February 22, we hold an executive committee, we discuss with you, and on February 23, I promise something to the clubs at the expense of my position? We discussed it with you, it violates the sporting principle, deprives FNL clubs of chances, etc. Many agreed with this. If we made this decision, many matches would not have a tournament principle.

Indeed, the events that unfolded had an impact on the season, but we have been living in such conditions for more than a year, before there was covid. If we react to every change, we won’t finish a single championship.

As far as the reduction of the RFU budget is concerned, it is too early to give a precise assessment. We hope to maintain last year’s level of income, but we have to assume that there may be a negative scenario. We provide options for budget reductions in this case. Shortfalls include contracts with Coca-Cola, Volkswagen, Adidas. We are continuing cooperation with Russian partners.

On Tuesday, a meeting of the RFU executive committee was held, during which it was decided to maintain the RPL’s current format of 16 clubs for next season. At the same time, it is planned to create a League Cup in order to increase the number of matches for teams in a situation of suspension from European competitions.
