The Ukrainian believes that the team deserves to be higher in the Premier League standings
Ukrainian defender of Everton Vitaly Mikolenko commented on the work with the new head coach Irisok Sean Dyche.
“Fresh start? Yes. He loves discipline and I have always said that this is very important for me too. Discipline for a defender, in my opinion, comes first. You need to be consistent and concentrate on every moment of the game. Discipline is important not only in defense, but also on the whole field.
“I know for sure that he can make me better. He has different ideas and you can always learn something from a new coach like I do now.”
“I have a good feeling. We know it will be hard work. For the last 18 months at Dynamo Kiev, I worked with Mircea Lucescu, a very good coach. Each training session we ran seven to eight kilometers. Now it’s the same. These are hard sessions, but useful ones.”
“When you have workouts like this, I feel like you can really feel the benefit when the games come. You can run just as hard in the last 20 minutes as you did in the first 20 minutes. This is a big advantage.”
“Where we are right now is not where we are, where we want to be and where Everton deserves to be. We have to be better, but we have to fight for it.”
Everton appointed Sean Dyche as head coach at the end of January. The Toffees had previously fired head coach Frank Lampard due to the team’s poor performance. Since Dyche’s arrival, the team has won two wins in three matches.
Everton are 16th in the Premier League with 21 points. In the next match, Mikolenko’s team will host Aston Villa on February 25.
