According to Alexandria’s mentor, the backbone of the team is just being formed
Head Coach AAlexandria Ruslan Rotan spoke about the changes in the team’s playing style.
“We’re changing the way we play, it’s not a quick process. However, we do not stop and we have something to strive for. The work will continue during the championship. We have to improve with every game, get better and fight our shortcomings together.”
“Currently, the backbone has not yet been formed. We really worked a lot on connections and tested different play patterns in every sparring session. I do not rule out that there will be rotations in some positions, depending on the quality of the players. We are rebuilding in the process.”
“Work continues. It is difficult for both the players and the coaching staff. Unfortunately, this cannot be done in a week or a month. This takes time. Ultimately, we must become a single mechanism. We are working on it and already on the way to it.”
“I won’t say that there is a problem, but conveying, proving and implementing an idea are two different things. This is formed in training, fixed in the game. And the player will only believe in the idea when he sees the result. As a coach, I am aware that this is not an easy path. Football players must understand what they must do in specific episodes in their positions on the field. It’s still hard for them, it takes time to come to this. But there is already progress.”
“Perhaps the easiest thing is to become the whole team in defense and score one single goal. However, we strive to ensure that the game that the team will demonstrate is first of all liked by the fans,” said the coach.
Rotan led Alexandria in December. The coach replaced Yuri Guru, who led the team since May 2021 and was fired at the end of the first part of the season.
Oleksandria went into the winter break in fifth place in the UPL standings. On February 27, Ruslan Rotan’s team will play a postponed match of the national championship with Metalist 1925.
