Leipzig head coach Marco Rose appreciated the performance of his team in the first leg of the 1/8 finals of the Champions League against Manchester city (1:1).
“Two very, very different halves. In the first half, nothing worked, we ran after the opponent, and when we did get the ball, we disposed of it very badly. The second half was completely different. We combined better, regained possession faster and played the way we wanted to.”
“If we had more possession, we could attack them with counter-pressing in their half of the field. But we lost all duels and rebounds in the first half. Our game just wasn’t up to the level of the Champions League before the break.”
Recall that Man City opened the scoring in the first half – Riyad Mahrez scored. After the break, Leipzig managed to level the score thanks to a goal from Joshko Guardiola.
The second leg will take place in Manchester on 14 March.
