Income per match is more than the budget of almost all UPL clubs. Named the TOP 10 most lucrative matches for teams in the Champions League

AC Milan earned more than 9 million euros on tickets for the match against Tottenham

All the first matches of the 1/8 finals of the Champions League of the 2022/2023 season have been played in the Champions League. According to their results, perhaps only Benfica, who beat Brugge 2-0, Napoli, who got the away victory over Eintracht by the same score, and Real Madrid, who made an impressive comeback from 0-2 to 5-2 at Anfield in the game with Liverpool, can feel themselves relatively calmly before the return matches. Fans of the remaining 13 clubs will have to be nervous.

In particular, to the fans of Milan, who beat Tottenham at home with a minimum score. But the Rossoneri leadership is probably satisfied with the last match: the match with Spurs, which took place at the San Siro, became the most successful in terms of ticket sales in the history of the Champions League, bringing more than 9 million euros to the club’s treasury. This conclusion was made by analysts Observatoire du Sport Business, who in their study analyzed the number of spectators at the matches, plus the average price of tickets.

Another home match for Milan this season in the Champions League was in the top 3: a group match against Chelsea, which allowed the Italian club to earn 6.7 million euros in ticket sales. Then, by the way, more fans came to the San Siro than to the Milan-Tottenham match, however, the ticket price was much lower.

It is noteworthy that the San Siro is the most profitable stadium. Together with Inter, the arena “took” the second, fourth and fifth places in the ranking of the most profitable matches of the Champions League. The Inter-Barcelona game in the 2019/2020 season brought the Milanese club 7.88 million euros. The match Inter – Porto this season took fourth place, the match Inter – Barcelona of the season 2018/2019 – fifth.

Also in the ranking was a place for Rome’s Stadio Olimpico for the Roma-Liverpool match (2017/2018) and Turin’s Allianz Juventus for three Juventus matches in the 2018/2019 season. The compilers of the ranking did not take into account the Champions League finals, where UEFA receives profit from ticket sales.
