Dnipro-1 were relegated to the Conference League after failing to beat AEK Larnaca

Oleksandr Kucher’s team, in the absence of Artem Dovbik, failed to realize their chances.

On Thursday, February 23, in the second leg of the 1/16 finals of the Conference League, Dnipro-1 met AEK Larnaca. Cypriots started the match with an advantage after the first game, where they won – 1:0.

Dnipro head coach Alexander Kucher did not rely on the main star of his team, Artem Dovbik, who did not have time to recover from his injury.

But despite the absence of the main strike force, the current UPL leader was able to take the initiative in the entire fight. The Ukrainian club has more possession of the ball, more shots on goal than the opponent.

But, unfortunately, to win, you have to score goals. And that night Dnipro-1 had serious problems creating really dangerous chances and, especially, with accuracy – only two shots on target in 90 minutes of play.

In the second half, the Cypriots completely gave up the ball and sat defensively to salvage their narrow home win. And they succeeded.

According to the sum of the two matches, AEK continues, and Dnipro-1 stops playing in the Conference League. Now Kucher’s wards can fully concentrate on the Ukrainian championship.
