On Tuesday, February 22 and Wednesday, February 23, the first matches of the quarter-finals of the RPL route of the Russian Football Cup took place. The most important match today was the confrontation between CSKA and Krasnodar. The match took place in Moscow at the VEB Arena. Let’s see how it went.
From the first minutes, CSKA began to actively attack. However, a dangerous moment in the eighth minute was created by Krasnodar. However, after two minutes, the number of army attacks turned into quality. Medina crossed from a corner in the penalty area, Rocha made a throw-in in the goalkeeper’s box and Moises headed the ball against Safonov. Initially, the referee did not count Moises’ goal, considering it to be offside. However, after watching the video replay, the ball was still counted out.

Carrascal turned and passed into the penalty area, Chalov pulled the defender out with a nice feint and shot into the far corner – the ball went past the gate. Five minutes later, the CSKA players manage to organize a counter-attack. Chalov reached the penalty area, pulled the defender out and hit the bottom – Safonov kicked the ball to the side.

Carrascal counter-passed, Medina ran one-on-one from the center of the field, entered the penalty area and shot in the corner – Safonov saved his team.
In the second half, the general tendencies did not change. CSKA continued to play actively in attack. In the 59th minute, the army team was awarded a penalty. However, Jorge Carrascal failed to convert it, hitting the crossbar. In the 74th minute, Akhmetov jumped almost one-on-one with Akinfeev and tried to kick the ball into the goal, but the goalkeeper parried the kick with his foot.
Nevertheless, the score became still big – 3:0. In the 86th minute, Gaich intercepted a cross pass from Banyats, after which he immediately went into Krasnodar’s penalty area, from where Zabolotny shot just under the far post.
Thus, CSKA defeated Krasnodar. However, on Tuesday, February 28, the second leg will take place. It will take place in Krasnodar. It is therefore by the sum of the two matches that will be determined who will go out next. Nevertheless, the result of today’s game cannot but please CSKA fans. They left their comments in the official red-blue community in Vkontakte.

– No need for landslide victories. We need confident and hard-working people.
Andrei Velmakin:
– Today I liked that the players were fully loaded and tuned. They pressed well, attacked well. Today the army team really came out to play and win. Among the minuses, only the set-up… We could put a few more… And then the return match would be a formality, but the +3 will also work.
