President of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Alexander Diukov answered a question about the possible rivals of the Russian national team in friendly matches, which are due to take place in September.
Earlier, Dyukov spoke about his intention to organize several friendly matches, which could also take place on the territory of Russia, and “these are not necessarily matches with the Belarusian national team”.
– I will refrain from naming rivals. We have several options, but first we need to come to agreements,” Dyukov told reporters.
Earlier, national team head coach Valery Karpin said that the team had given up training camps and friendly matches in the summer. The International Football Federation (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) have suspended Russian national teams and Russian clubs from international tournaments due to the situation in Ukraine.
