Athletistic / Soccer. Roman Teryushkov, a former member of Khimki’s supervisory board and now a State Duma deputy, opposed the signing of legionnaires by RPL clubs. According to Teryushkov, it is necessary to use a hard limit, as in the KHL.

“My position has not changed – the legionnaires of Russian football should be abandoned. I am still convinced that the sport should rely on local athletes. Foreigners take the place of our athletes, which negatively affects both the level of support for the teams by the fans and on the results of the team.

And it also leads to an inevitable reduction in the number of people involved in sports. When there are no horizons to plan a sports career, the motivation disappears for children and parents to send their children to sports schools.

The vast majority of clubs are funded by the state – either directly or through organizations where the state is present as a founder or shareholder. I consider it impossible to finance foreign players to the detriment of the budget.

“We have our heroes.” Teryushkov on the idea of naming the stadium after Pelé

Funds released from multi-million dollar contracts are expected to be directed towards opening club sports schools in the regions. They will train the future athletes who will represent our clubs. This will both create competition and discover new talent.

For publicly funded clubs, the limit should be zero – no outsiders in the squad.

If the club is private and does not have budgetary funds in the income structure, the founder has the right to invite foreign players. And their number, in my opinion, should not exceed three people – as in the KHL, for example”, RB Sport quotes Teryushkov.
