World Champions retained their mentor
Team head coach Argentina Lionel Scaloni extended the contract with the national team until 2026.
At the end of the 2022 World Cup, the head of the Argentina Football Association, Claudio Tapia, said that the mentor would be offered a new agreement. Contract negotiations continued after the coach settled family matters.
Scaloni, 44, took charge of the Argentina national team in 2018. Under his leadership, Albiceleste became the winners of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. In the final, Argentina beat France on penalties. Also under the leadership of Scaloni, the Argentina national team won the Copa America and the Finalissima.
Recall that Scaloni was recognized as the best coach of the national teams in 2022 according to the IFFHS.
