“The Russian coaching school is no worse, but the attitude towards our specialists is unfairly bad” – Kobelev

Former coach of Dynamo and Krylya Sovetov Andrei Kobelev in an interview with , he explained why Russian clubs do not always trust national specialists.

Currently, four foreign coaches work in the MIR RPL: Guillermo Abascal (Spartak), Slavisha Jokanovic (Dynamo), Vladimir Ivic (Krasnodar) and Marcel Lichka (Orenburg).

– Don’t you find it strange that some clubs (Dynamo, Krasnodar) invite unknown foreign specialists? Are there really no Russians of the same level?

First of all, what is a level? The level of the coach determines the presence of players – by about 90%. Secondly, I think our coaching school is no worse, but the attitude towards Russian coaches is unfairly bad. Many managers don’t understand football at all. Therefore, when choosing a coach, they often refer to their agent friends and other people close to football who solve their own problems, not the team’s problems. From there, such projects appear as they were in Lokomotiv, for example, before that – in Dynamo …

I fully understand the processes taking place in Russian football today. It is hardly possible to speak here of development. But we can talk about nepotism and all that goes with it. Until that disappears, our football will be the same as it is – regardless of how it performs on the international stage – Kobelev told .
