Lionel Scaloni which lead to Argentina national team to victory at the World Cup in Qatar, won the award of the International Football Federation (Fifa ) the best coach of the year in men’s football.
The award was presented to the 44-year-old specialist by ex-Russian national team coach Fabio Capello.
The shortlist of nominees in this category also includes an Italian Carlo Anchelotti and Spanish Josep Guardiola . Ancelotti, who manages Real Madrid, won the Spanish league, the country’s Super Cup, the Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup last season with the team, while Guardiola became the champion of England with Manchester City.
The best coach in women’s football was Sarina Wigman from the Netherlands, who led the England team to victory in the European Championship. Sonia Bompastor (Lyon, France) and Pia Sundhage (Brazil, Sweden) also made the top three.
