In his position, he replaced Vadym Gutzeit, who currently heads the NOC of Ukraine and is the Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine.
It should be noted that the participants of the extraordinary conference of the FFU unanimously elected Ilyashev as the new head of the organization. He will hold this position for the next four years.
Recently, Ukrainian Alina Polozyuk won a bronze medal at the FIE Trofeo Inalpi Grand Prix, which took place in Turin. Previously, Ukrainian women have never managed to win medals in the individual foil championship at Grand Prix or World Cup competitions.
Also, Ukrainian fencer Emily Konrad won a gold medal at the Cadet European Championship 2023. Bronze medals in Estonia were won by Anna Maksimenko and Andrey Cherkashin.
