Fontaine holds the record for most goals scored in a single World Cup. In the 1958 World Cup he scored 13 goals. This record remains unequaled to this day.
Throughout his career, Fontaine has played for Casablanca (Morocco), Nice and Reims (both in France). He is a quadruple champion of France, double winner of the Coupe de France, double winner of the country’s Super Cup. Fontaine also twice became the top scorer in the French championship.
For the national team he spent 21 games and scored 30 goals.
