Not all fans with tickets were able to enter the stadium
UEFA apologized to the fans who suffered due to poor organization Champions League final.
The final match at the Paris Stade de France started 36 minutes late due to problems with people entering the stadium, which led to the fact that not all fans with tickets were able to watch the game from the stands.
“UEFA sincerely apologizes to all spectators who had to experience or witness the frightening and disturbing events leading up to the Champions League final at the Stade de France in Paris on what should have been a celebration of European club football,” UEFA said in a statement.
“No football fan should have been in this situation and it shouldn’t happen again.”
“To this end, UEFA commissioned an independent review to identify the shortcomings and responsibilities of all parties involved in the organization of the final, and submitted terms of reference for it.”
Earlier, French Sports Minister Amelie Houdet-Castera said that UEFA would compensate 2,700 fans with tickets who were unable to enter the stadium.
Real Madrid beat Liverpool 1-0 in the Champions League final. The Royal Club won the tournament for the 14th time in history.
