Lokomotiv played well in the second game of the RPL FONBET Cup of Russia quarter-finals with Spartak and could have won the game if Roman Zobnin’s goal had not been counted, believes ex-lokomotiv player Dmitry Tarasov.
The commission of expert referees under the leadership of the RFU president had previously concluded that referee Sergei Ivanov mistakenly counted Spartak midfielder Roman Zobnin’s goal against Lokomotiv. In the 56th minute, Red-White midfielder Mikhail Ignatov took the ball from Lokomotiv defender Nair Tiknizyan, which then led to Zobnin’s goal against the railway workers. The match ended with the score of 4:2 in favor of Guillermo Abascal’s team.
– Lokomotiv played the second game very well. At first I was sure that a foul would be counted. There was a clear violation – one was playing with his hands, the other was not. Well, admitted and recognized. This doesn’t affect the outcome in any way, unfortunately.
We can only guess how things might have turned out. There is already a result, and it is not in favor of Lokomotiv. But Lokomotiv played with dignity. And maybe if this goal hadn’t been counted, one could assume that Lokomotiv would have won the game, Tarasov told Metaratings.ru.
Moscow “Spartak” will meet Yekaterinburg “Urals” in the semi-finals of the Russian RPL Cup way. Lokomotiv will play with Akron in the second leg of the Regions Path quarter-finals.
