Spartak have confirmed they have asked the RFU to postpone the Russian Super Cup game to a later date

“Spartacus” appealed to the Russian Football Union (RFU) and the Russian Premier League (RPL) with a request to postpone the match of the Russian Super Cup from “Zenith” . This was reported to journalists by the press secretary of the “red-white” Dmitry Zelenov.

Earlier, reports appeared in the media that the capital club asked to play the Super Cup match with Zenit not on July 9, but on July 16. The Red-Whites are also asking to consider the option of hosting the match in Luzhniki. As an alternative, the Nizhny Novgorod and Kazan arenas are indicated. In addition, Spartak offers to invite a foreign team of referees to the match.

– Yes, we really turned to the RFU and the RPL with a set of proposals for the Super Bowl game. We considered it necessary to do this for several reasons: against the backdrop of rumors that the match should take place in Saint Petersburg, given the different off-season rest and training times for the two teams, in order to avoid pressure on referees and generally speculation about refereeing.

We were expecting a direct response from the RFU and RPL leadership, but it was probably decided to open a public discussion on this topic first, as the letter was widely circulated. We hope our arguments will be heard,” Zelenov said.

The Russian Super Cup game between Zenit and Spartak is scheduled for July 9.
