Dnipro-1 will concentrate all its efforts on winning the Ukrainian Championship
Midfielder of Dnipro-1 Alexander Pikhalenok spoke about reasons for failure in the playoffs of the Conference League and forthcoming the second round of the championship of Ukraine.
“The first official matches are always different from friendly games. A completely different level of responsibility, and the speed is already different. This was especially true in the first game. In the second match it was a little easier, but we were already losing on aggregate.”
“AEK has a very competent team, they closed well and it was very difficult for us to create chances. And the absence of Dovbik’s Theme also played a role. Without him, it was hard ahead and it resulted in the fact that we did not pass to the next stage.
“I don’t want to guess, there are a lot of tours ahead. We’ll see at the end of the season. It’s too early to even think about it. In the second round, everyone will tune in to us as if it were the last game. But we are only happy about this, because it will add spice and interest to the games. We flew out of European competitions, now only the championship remains, in which we will give 100%.”
On the sum of two matches, the Dnipro team failed to qualify for the 1/16 finals of the AEK Conference League from Larnaca (0:1, 0:0).
In the UPL, Dnipro-1 is in the first position, two points ahead of Shakhtar. On March 4, Dnipro will play Oleksandriya.
