The national teams of Italy and Argentina have met three times in friendlies in the 21st century, all three of which the Argentines have taken over (2:1, 2:1, 2:0). It is curious that the last of the matches also took place in England – in 2018 the match was hosted by Manchester.
In the official match, Italy and Argentina last played the semi-finals of the 1990 World Cup, then the Argentinians won on penalties (1:1, 4:3) and reached the final, then losing to Germany.
