“Lokomotiv has a lot of debt, but Russian Railways are behind it” – ex-executive director of the club Kirichek

Former Executive Director Lokomotiv Aleksey Kirichek says the capital club’s debts are due to a huge transfer campaign, but Russian Railways can help solve the financial problems.

– The club changed the concept and actively bought players, spent money on them and suffered a loss. How were these expenses financed? In Lokomotiv, it turns out that this is borrowed funds, and not an increase in income. Therefore, the question arises how the club will earn money next year in order to repay the obligations taken on this year.

Lokomotiv’s accounts payable exceed 9.2 billion rubles. This is the most in the League after Zenit, whose supplier accounts amount to more than 9.6 billion. But only the St. Petersburg club has other better indicators. Therefore, it will probably be easier to repay the debts to Bleu-Blanc-Bleu than to Loko, all other things being equal.

But you need to understand that a company like Russian Railways is behind the club. It all depends on his decisions and next year’s budget. Perhaps the shareholder decides to increase the capital of the club. Or donate sponsorship money. Lokomotiv will not be able to repay its debts in any other way. You can sell the players, but it doesn’t happen quickly, plus that money is still not enough,” said Kirichek, quoted on the Press Lodge Telegram channel.

According to the RFU report, the net loss of Lokomotiv before taxes for 2021 amounts to 2.282 billion rubles.
