Defender of the national team of Ukraine Denis Popov told how the team is preparing for the upcoming match against Wales.
Tomorrow the teams will meet in Cardiff in the World Cup qualifier final. The beginning is at 19:00 Kyiv time.
“The team feels good both emotionally and physically because there was time to recover. I think we will approach the game with Wales in optimal condition. I feel good, recovered. I will be very happy if I can help the national team,” said Popov.
“We have the highest desire. I don’t know how to properly name the future match against Wales. Perhaps the game of a lifetime. We had a theory, we looked at the opponent and played the combinations proposed by the coaching staff.
“I saw fireworks in honor of the Queen’s jubilee. But we can’t have a holiday right now. It was beautiful, that’s all. The coach said that they were a little happy after the game – and we need to prepare for the next one. We have a very important match ahead of us.”
On Wednesday, the Ukrainian national team defeated Scotland (3:1) in their first official match since last November.
