President of the Ukrainian Football Association Andrey Pavelko held a meeting with senior management FIFA – President of the organization Gianni Infantino and its general secretary Fatma Samura.
The parties discussed cooperation in humanitarian projects and FIFA’s support for youth football in Ukraine against the backdrop of a full-scale Russian invasion.
“I am grateful to the FIFA President and Secretary General for their readiness to contribute to the revival of Ukrainian football at all levels – from the UPL and PFL to school competitions. This is an extremely important aspect both for Ukraine, because it also nourishes our faith in the approach of peace, and for the entire world football, to which our state has already given many star names, ”Pavelko quotes the UAF as saying.
“We discussed many issues from the life of Ukrainian football during the war, which we had previously discussed in Kyiv with the presidents of the UPL and PFL clubs, whose position I conveyed to FIFA leaders. It is nice that the FIFA leaders shared my opinion that football will become an effective social tool that will help people, and above all, children affected by the war, return to civilian life and undergo the necessary social rehabilitation.”
After the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, FIFA banned Russian teams from participating in competitions under its auspices
Ukrainian resistance to the invaders continues for the 101st day.
