Rotan: I believe in Konoplyanka as a person and a player

The midfielder of Cracovia was called to the March training camp of the national team of Ukraine

Acting head coach national team of Ukraine Ruslan Rotan commented on the call of the Cracovian midfielder Evgenia Konoplyanka for the March gathering of the national team.

“I can say that as a coach I believe in Yevhen Konoplyanka. I believe that he will benefit the national team more than once.”

“I believe as a person and as a player. He has skill. On the level with Andriy Yarmolenko, these are the players with whom you need to achieve results. These are players whose skill is undeniable. They can help this team to become a very strong team both with skill and word in the dressing room.”

“You could say it was my thought. I understand that there may be criticism. I want the players to be relaxed and believe in the team,” Rotan said.

Konoplyanka played 86 matches for the Ukrainian national team, in which he scored 21 goals. The midfielder last played for the national team in 2020 in the Nations League match with Switzerland (2:1). Evgeny has not been included in the Blue-Yellow squad since March 2021.

Ruslan Rotan called 26 players to the training camp, which will begin on March 19. The Blue-Yellows will be based in London. As part of the training camp, Ukraine will spar with Brentford.

Recall that the Blue-Yellows will play in Group C against Italy, England, North Macedonia and Malta in the Euro 2024 qualifying tournament. On March 26, Ukraine will play the opening match of the Euro 2024 qualifier against England. All matches of the blue-yellows will be broadcast on ICTV channel as part of the all-Ukrainian telethon “United News”.
