Mentor Ingulets Sergey Kovalets became the best coach of the 16th round of the Ukrainian Premier League according to All-Ukrainian association of football coaches.
The specialist was noted for the victory of his team over Dynamo, which was the first for Ingulets in the confrontation with Dynamo.
“Before that, Ingulets had never won against Dynamo, and the tournament situation required Kovalets’s men to play for the result even in the capital’s outings. They wintered with 13 points right above the relegation zone, so they could go down there after the first spring round. Winning the match against one of the leaders gives a good push to the team to rise, as well as additional “credibility” for the updated coaching staff, ”the statement says.
It should be noted that Sergey Kovalets won his debut match at the head of Ingulets, beat the current Dynamo coach Mircea Lucescu for the third time (two previous victories were won over Shakhtar at the helm of Obolon) and defeated Dynamo for the second time (in 2010 he won the capital derby with Obolon) .
Ingulets after 16 rounds is 12th in the UPL standings. Dnipro-1 and Shakhtar are leading with 36 points each. The next, 17th round of the Ukrainian Championship will start with the duel between Minai and Alexandria on March 11, which is scheduled to start at 13:00.
