Fan “Blackpool” died in hospital from a head injury sustained in a fan fight.
Tony Johnson, 55, was previously taken to hospital in critical condition after the man was injured in a fight between supporters of English clubs Blackpool and “Burly” . The fan died on Monday.
– Shock. This is something none of us were expecting or preparing for,” Blackpool said in a statement quoted by the Daily Mail.
Police said the clash took place in Blackpool, involving around 15 people. A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing bodily harm. He was later released on bail.
The championship game itself ended in a draw with the score 0:0.
