Tevez announced his retirement from football

The decision of the Argentine was influenced by the death of his father

Former Argentina striker Carlos Tevez announced his retirement from football.

Tevez has been without a club since last summer, when the Argentine left Boca Juniors.

“I ended my career, it’s official. I received many offers from different parties, but as a footballer I gave everything that was in my heart. I am more than calm,” said Tevez, 38.

The former Manchester City star revealed that one of the main reasons for this decision was the death of his father.

“I stopped playing because I lost my biggest fan. I was eight years old when he came to watch me play.”

Tevez became the champion of England three times with Manchester City and Manchester United, with whom he won the European Cup in the 2007-08 season.

Tevez played 76 matches for the Argentina national team, in which he scored 13 goals and gave 13 assists.
