‘He has his own relationship with Karpin’ – Kolyvanov on Dziuba not being part of the Russian national team

Former Russian national team striker Igor Kolyvanov told Sport Day after Day that Lokomotiv striker Artem Dzyuba did not enter the extended national team, which could be due to the decision of the head coach Valery Karpin to rely on younger players.

The expanded composition of the Russian national team included 41 players. Dziuba in Saturday’s WORLD RPL game scored three goals against Karpin-led Rostov.

– Dziuba only played one game and scored three goals. He has his own relationship with Karpin, – says Kolyvanov. – The problem is not how much he scored or didn’t score. Karpin also said he would attract young players to the national team.

For now, Dziuba has shown everyone that he can score in the Russian league and continue to amaze the fans. But it’s the prerogative of the head coach – to call him or not.

– Which of the five called forwards is weaker than Dziuba?

“They are all quite different players. Dziuba and Sobolev are somewhat similar, both tall and mobile. They can catch the ball, drop it and score with a header. The rest of the players are a bit different. They are fast and technical, they have different dimensions. Each of them is good in its own way.

The Russian national team training camp will be held from March 19 to 28 in Novogorsk. Earlier, the RFU’s communication department told that the RFU and the Iranian Football Federation have agreed on the date for the national teams’ friendly match on March 23 in Tehran.
