São Paulo misses a penalty and draws with Avaí

São Paulo visited Avai, in Ressacada, in a match valid for the ninth round of the Brazilian Championship and was only in a draw, losing the chance to reach the leadership

On Saturday night, the 4th, Hawaii and Sao Paulo faced each other in Ressacada in a match valid for the ninth round of the Brazilian Championship. With chances of sleeping in the lead of the competition, the Tricolor paulista went to the field away from home after leaving only with the tie in 2 to 2 against the Ceará inside home.

For the match, the Sovereign tried to change things that didn’t work out and had time to adjust. That’s because, like all other clubs, after a long time, the team had a whole week of training and managed to put together the right strategy to face Avaí without major problems.

THE GAME

Despite the previous preparation, São Paulo faced a difficult Avaí to face. Even being a little lost in the match, the club from Santa Catarina did not make things easy and made the team from São Paulo have to add nine submissions to open the scoring at the end of the first stage.

São Paulo’s goal only came in the 49th minute of the first half. In a high ball in the area, Arthur Chaves disputed with Calleri and hit the ball with his hand. After the VAR review, Anderson Daronco awarded the maximum penalty. Going to billing, Reinaldo finished very well and put Tricolor paulista in front.

On the way back to the second stage, São Paulo had another penalty in their favor. At 30 seconds, the author of the first goal crossed to the area and Arthur Chaves, again, made the foul pulling Lucian. Initially, Daronco saw no irregularity, but was called to VAR, where, after three minutes, he reached the decision to award the penalty. However, Calleri went for the kick and hit over the goal.

In the 21st minute of the second half, Avaí made the São Paulo team regret the missed penalty and tied the match. After kicking Edward and rebound given by Jandrei, Muriqui took advantage and rocked the nets. With the chance of turning around, coat missed an unbelievable goal and the match ended 1-1.
