WBA will not oblige Alexander to defend the belt with Daniel Dubois
Teams of the Ukrainian WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and WBC heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury informed the WBA about the agreement reached to hold the fight for the title of absolute world champion.
The WBA will not oblige Alexander to defend the belt with challenger Daniel Dubois.
“Both sides have agreed terms. Usyk accepted a 70/30 split of the fee. The boxers asked for time to work on the contract,” said WBA President Gilberto Mendoza.
Earlier, Oleksandr Usyk accepted Fury’s offer to split the fee 70/30 with the condition that the Briton immediately after the fight donate one million pounds to Ukraine. The fight for the title of absolute world champion is planned to be held on April 29 at Wembley Stadium.
The WBA issued an official appeal to both boxers, demanding an agreement be reached by March 10. Otherwise, the Association would have submitted for negotiations the fight of the Ukrainian with the challenger Daniel Dubois.
Usyk offered Fury a fee distribution scheme – 60 to 40 in favor of the winner of the fight. Prior to this, Usyk’s side insisted on an equal distribution of income. Tyson announced his readiness to fight in a different scenario – 70/30 in his favor.
Promoter Frank Warren has said that if negotiations for a unification fight between Usyk and Fury are not completed soon, he will explore other options for his client.
