The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has apologized to football fans after having to adjust the broadcast schedule due to an incident with an expert Gary Lineker .
Earlier it was reported that former England footballer Lineker was suspended from the match of the day after commenting on social media on the UK’s Illegal Migrant Deportation Bill. The ex-striker compared the proposed measures with the rhetoric of the German government in the 1930s. Lineker was advised not to appear on air until an agreement was reached on his use of social media.
– This weekend the BBC will be able to broadcast a limited number of sports programs, our schedule will be updated. We regret these changes which we understand will disappoint sports fans. We are doing everything we can to resolve the situation, and hope to do so in the near future, — quotes the statement of the representative of the BBC Guaurdian.
In solidarity with Lineker, several of the channel’s other top pundits declined to go on the air.
