Acting head coach for Wales Robert Page commented on the victory over Ukraine (1:0) in the playoff final of the 2022 World Cup qualification.
The Welsh won thanks to Andriy Yarmolenko’s own goal and for the first time since 1958 reached the world championship.
“Before the match, I was often asked if I felt any additional pressure. I confess, yes, I felt, but I believed my guys. I saw how they train, and it calmed me down, ”said Page.
“There were a lot of emotions in the match against Ukraine. At times they turned into something more, but my team managed. By and large, we acted brilliantly.
At the World Cup in Qatar, Wales will play in the same group with England, the USA and Iran.
