Former Russian national team striker Pavel Pogrebnyak expressed doubt that the national team will play in the first championship of the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA).
Earlier, Tajikistan Football Federation press secretary Faridun Saliev told about the Russian national team’s participation in the tournament. The six members of the Football Association – Tajikistan, Iran, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan – have confirmed their participation in the CAFA‑2023 championship among national teams. CAFA has also invited one of the Asian teams to participate in the new tournament.
“I’m a little incompetent in this area. It seems to me that now everything is changing and every day there are new news and stories. I wouldn’t say that the Russian team will definitely participate in the Central Asian Football Association tournament. Unpredictable schedule. I don’t know what will happen,” Pogrebnyak told the “Championship”.
