With Palmeiras and Flamengo guaranteed, Fifa defines the Club World Cup

Fifa made the change official in the Club World Cup, which will be played every four years; Palmeiras and Flamengo are guaranteed in the competition

A fifa took an important step towards the Club World Cup. This Tuesday, the 14th, in Kigali, capital of Rwanda, football’s governing body decided that the continental champions between 2021 and 2024 will participate in the new edition of the championship. With that, Brazil already has guaranteed two representatives, the palm trees and also the Flamengo. It is worth noting that the conmebol will be entitled to six vacancies for the tournament and these will be complete with the champions of liberators.

In other words, Palmeiras and Flamengo will be joined by the 2023 and 2024 Libertadores champions. she uses her own ranking to define who will be part of the six South American teams in the new Club World Cup.

In Europe, for UEFA, the entity will have four representatives. These will be the Champions League champions from 2021 to 2024. With that, Chelsea and Real Madrid are two teams that are also guaranteed for the new tournament dispute model. The remaining eight vacancies will be divided by a continental ranking and cannot be from the same country.

It is important to highlight that this Club World Cup does not yet have a venue or a defined date. FIFA’s schedule provides for the tournament to be held for the 2025 season and the possibility is that it will be held between the months of June and July. The change in the way the championship is disputed was carried out at the beginning of the year and had the unanimous support of FIFA’s Technical Council.
