FIFA creates tournament to replace the current World Cup held annually

With the extinction of the Club World Cup in its current format, after 2023, FIFA intends to create a tournament that brings together the continental champions, but which will have less dispute than currently

A FIFA announced this Tuesday morning, the 14th, the new format of the Club World Cup, which will be played, starting in 2025, with 32 teams every four years. The entity, thinking of holding an annual tournament, created the FIFA Club Competitions, which will be similar to the World Cup played today, but with changes in the regulations.

After the 2023 edition of the Club World Cup, which will be the last in the current format and valid as the biggest club tournament in the world, the competition will be closed and another championship, remembering the intercontinental which was disputed between the champion of liberators and the Champions League.

The new tournament will have two phases, one where the continental champions of AmericaSouth, AmericaCentral, Asia, Africa It is Oceania face each other and define a classification for the final, which will face the European champion in a neutral field, no longer requiring the winning team of the Champions League to play in two games in the FIFA tournament.

It is not yet defined how the confrontation between the confederations outside Europe will be, if they all face each other and will define a champion or if there will be a shift similar to the current format.
