Liverpool head coach Jürgen Klopp commented on the return match 1/8 finals of the Champions League against Real Madrid (0:1).
“If you want to go further, 2:5 is not a very good result for that. In such cases, you need to show a special match, and we did not. Real had better scoring opportunities, Alisson made two fantastic saves. We must admit that the team that deserved it went further.
“In such matches, you need to create chances. If we had scored in the first half it could have given us a spark, but that’s just a version. Real Madrid were the best in the three halves of our confrontation, that’s how the teams go on.”
“We cannot come here and hope that we will get something just like that. We were preparing for a special performance, but this did not happen. Nobody says ‘How did it happen that Liverpool got knocked out?’ and that’s the best sign that the right team got through.”
